Triumph Teases New 2012 Models Before ECIMA

It is that time of year again, ECIMA time!  Triumph official announced three new models to join the Triumph line-up this morning;  The Triumph Tiger Explorer, Triumph Speed Triple R, and Triumph Steve McQueen Edition.  The bikes will officially launch on November 8th at the ECIMA show in Milan, Italy.

2012 Triumph Tiger Explorer

Building on the success of last year’s Tiger 800, the new Tiger Explorer will be powered by a 1200 in-line triple with a shaft drive.  Featuring a high-specification as standard, the Tiger Explorer debuts Triumph’s new ‘ride-bywire’ throttle system and includes cruise control, switchable ABS and traction control as standard. The high specification continues in the chassis department with a strong steel chassis and cast alloy wheels, 19” front and 17” rear, the latter showcased thanks to the stylish singlesided swingarm.

2012 Triumph Speed Triple R

The Speed Triple now joins the Daytona and Street Triple families with an “R” trim now available. The new Speed Triple R will come standard with Öhlins NIX30 43mm front forks and the race proven TTX36 Öhlins shock on the rear. It will also offer light-weight PVM forged aluminum wheels, reducing the weight of the bike by 3lbs.

In addition to upgrades in suspenion the Speed Triple R will offer top specification four-piston radial monoblock calipers from Brembo increasing the Speed Triple’s stopping power by 5%.

2012 Triumph Steve McQueen Edition

Triumph’s love of Steve McQueen has finally made its way from t-shirts and jacket to a motorcycle named in his honor. Based on the classic Bonneville T100,  the Steve McQueen Edition offers a host of modified parts, the design is inspired by the Triumph Trophy TR6 that McQueen insisted on riding during the famous stunt scene in The Great Escape, and features a military-style matte khaki green livery, stencil-style Triumph decal on the tank and the actor’s signature on the side covers.

Featuring a solo seat and black luggage rack, the McQueen bike has also been fitted with a
rugged skid plate and small black-bodied headlamp. The Triumph Steve McQueen Edition features a host of other blacked-out components, including wheel rims and hubs, handlebars, rear springs, mirrors and front mudguard supports. To confirm the bike’s provenance, each machine is individually numbered with a plaque placed on the handlebar clamp, while owners will also receive a certificate of authenticity with their machine.

Just 1,100 of the Steve McQueen Edition will be sold worldwide.
